The role ensures the DMU operates safely, efficiently, and within production targets by observing process parameters, responding to alarms, coordinating field operators, and maintaining optimal slurry feed to the Hopper.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor the Dry Mining Unit (DMU) through the SCADA interface, ensuring smooth and continuous material feed to the process plant.
  • Start up, operate, adjust, and shut down process components remotely, including the dozer trap feed system, hopper, conveyors, slurry pump systems, screens, and transfer lines.
  • Monitor key process indicators such as feed rate, hopper levels, slurry density, pump discharge pressure, and motor loads to maintain consistent feed within defined parameters.
  • Analyze live SCADA trends to optimize DMU performance, identify bottlenecks, and minimize downtime.
  • Record and report operating parameters, process deviations, and downtime events to the DMU Supervisor, assisting in troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Operate the DMU in compliance with safety and environmental standards, following isolation, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and emergency shutdown (ESD) procedures.
  • Maintain clear communication with field operators, dozer operators, and maintenance teams, reporting any operational issues, alarms, or abnormal equipment behavior.
  • Maintain accurate control room logs, hourly production data, and prepare shift summary reports for review by the Shift Supervisor and Operations Superintendent.
  • Liaise with maintenance personnel during breakdowns or planned maintenance to safely isolate and reinstate equipment.
