Job Purpose
The Instrument Technician is responsible for performing routine preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on instrumentation, control systems, and safety systems onboard the FPSO. The role ensures that field instruments and associated control equipment operate safely, accurately, and reliably to support continuous hydrocarbon production while maintaining compliance with Company HSSEQ policies, OEM recommendations, and applicable offshore regulations.

Qualifications
Essential
- National Diploma, Trade Certificate, or Apprenticeship in Instrumentation, Process Control, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
- Recognised Instrument Technician trade qualification.
- Offshore survival certification (e.g., BOSIET/FOET or equivalent).
- Valid Offshore Medical Certificate.
Preferred
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Instrumentation or Process Control.
- Hazardous Area (Ex) certification (e.g., IECEx CompEx or equivalent).
- Calibration certification from a recognised training provider.
- SAP PM or equivalent CMMS training.
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 3–5 years experience as an Instrument Technician in the oil and gas, petrochemical, LNG, power generation, or heavy industrial sector.
- Previous offshore experience on an FPSO, production platform, drilling rig, or offshore support vessel is preferred.
- Experience with routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of industrial instrumentation.
- Experience working with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and process control equipment.
Preferred
- Experience with distributed control systems (DCS), PLCs, and SCADA interfaces.
- Experience supporting commissioning and shutdown activities.
- Experience working in hazardous (Ex) environments.

Working Conditions
- Offshore rotational assignment (typically 21/21 or 28/28).
- 12-hour shifts with call-out availability during equipment failures and emergencies.
- Work in process areas, instrument workshops, utility systems, confined spaces, elevated work locations, and hazardous (Ex) zones.
- Exposure to offshore weather conditions, hydrocarbon processing equipment, and rotating machinery.
- Mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and intrinsically safe tools where required.
