Job Summary:



The Electrician - Electrical and Instrumentation is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and instrumentation in construction projects. This role involves working on a variety of electrical and instrumentation tasks, ensuring that all installations meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications. The Electrician will collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Tasks will include but are not limited to:



Key Responsibilities:



• Installation: Install, test, and commission electrical systems and instrumentation, including wiring, panels, circuit breakers, transformers, and control systems, according to project plans and specifications.
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections of electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards. Troubleshoot and repair any issues or malfunctions.
• Compliance: Ensure all electrical and instrumentation work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Follow safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, and repairs. Complete necessary documentation, including service reports and inspection checklists.
• Coordination: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate electrical and instrumentation activities. Address any issues or modifications required during the construction process.
• Testing: Conduct testing and calibration of electrical and instrumentation systems to verify performance and accuracy. Utilize testing equipment and diagnostic tools as needed.
• Upgrades: Assist with upgrades and modifications to existing electrical systems and instrumentation. Implement changes in accordance with project requirements and safety standards.
• Emergency Response: Respond to electrical emergencies and outages promptly. Provide troubleshooting and repair services to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
• Safety: Adhere to all safety regulations and practices. Ensure that all work areas are clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Training: Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience:



• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or vocational training is required.
• 3-5 years of experience as an electrician, with specific experience in electrical and instrumentation work within the construction industry.
• Licensing: Valid electrician's license or certification as required by local regulations. Additional certifications in instrumentation or specialized areas are a plus.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, and construction practices. Proficiency in using electrical tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
• Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail with the ability to follow technical specifications and project plans accurately.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and other stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues efficiently.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.

Safety and Compliance:



• Safety Practices: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols for handling and storing materials and equipment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure that safety procedures are followed.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies related to inventory management and site operations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as bending, and standing for extended periods.

Work Environment:
