Job Purpose



The Engine Room Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out routine, preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on engine room machinery and auxiliary mechanical systems onboard the FPSO. The role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of marine utility systems, power generation equipment, pumps, compressors, fuel systems, and associated machinery. Working under the direction of the Chief Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor, the technician helps maintain engine room equipment in accordance with Company maintenance programmes, OEM recommendations, Class Society requirements, and applicable maritime and offshore regulations.

Qualifications


Essential



  • National Diploma, Trade Certificate, or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or a related discipline.
  • Recognised Mechanical or Marine Engineering trade qualification.
  • Offshore survival certification (e.g., BOSIET/FOET or equivalent).
  • Valid Offshore Medical Certificate.


Preferred



  • Certificate of Competency (Engine Room Watch Rating or Marine Engineering qualification).
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
  • SAP PM or equivalent CMMS training.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems training.


Experience



Essential



  • Minimum 3–5 years experience maintaining engine room or marine mechanical equipment in the oil and gas, marine, offshore, or power generation industry.
  • Previous offshore experience on an FPSO, offshore production platform, drilling rig, offshore support vessel, or merchant vessel.
  • Experience with diesel generators, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.


Preferred



  • Experience supporting marine utility systems on floating production facilities.
  • Experience during dry dockings, shutdowns, or major overhaul campaigns.
  • Experience working with Class Society inspection requirements.

Working Conditions



  • Offshore rotational assignment (typically 21/21 or 28/28).
  • 12-hour shifts with emergency call-out responsibilities.
  • Work in engine rooms, machinery spaces, workshops, utility areas, confined spaces, and exposed deck locations.
  • Exposure to high temperatures, rotating machinery, noise, vibration, hydrocarbons, and marine environmental conditions.
  • Mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection and task-specific safety equipment.
