Job Purpose



The Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment and rotating machinery onboard the FPSO. The role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production, utility, marine, and safety systems by ensuring mechanical assets are maintained in accordance with Company maintenance strategies, OEM recommendations, and applicable offshore regulations. The Mechanical Technician contributes to maximizing equipment availability while ensuring full compliance with Company HSSEQ standards.

Qualifications



Essential



  • National Diploma, Trade Certificate, or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Fitting, or a related mechanical trade.
  • Recognised Mechanical Technician or Mechanical Fitter trade qualification.
  • Offshore survival certification (e.g., BOSIET/FOET or equivalent).
  • Valid Offshore Medical Certificate.


Preferred



  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Rotating Equipment Maintenance certification.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems training.
  • SAP PM or equivalent CMMS training.
  • Basic rigging or lifting awareness certification.


Experience



Essential



  • Minimum 3–5 years experience as a Mechanical Technician or Mechanical Fitter in the oil and gas, petrochemical, LNG, power generation, marine, or heavy industrial sector.
  • Previous offshore experience on an FPSO, offshore production platform, drilling rig, or offshore support vessel is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining rotating and static mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.


Preferred



  • Experience with gas compression systems and turbine-driven equipment.
  • Experience supporting shutdowns and commissioning activities.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Working Conditions



  • Offshore rotational assignment (typically 21/21 or 28/28).
  • 12-hour shifts with emergency call-out responsibilities during equipment failures.
  • Work in machinery spaces, production areas, utility systems, workshops, confined spaces, and open deck environments.
  • Exposure to offshore weather conditions, rotating machinery, elevated temperatures, noise, vibration, and hydrocarbon processing equipment.
  • Mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety procedures.
