PROCUREMENT OFFICER
Job Description:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct daily procurement of bulk materials, mechanical spare parts and local/international supplies.
Source suppliers, obtain quotations, conduct price comparisons and negotiate competitive terms.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market prices and material availability.
Develop, evaluate and maintain supplier relationships and supplier records.
Follow up on monthly material plans, contracts, purchase orders and delivery schedules.
Coordinate and monitor the timely delivery of ordered materials.
Verify supplier invoices and statements and assist with supplier reconciliation.
Monitor supplier performance, procurement costs and material supply requirements.
Coordinate the return, replacement or compensation of non-conforming materials.
Assist the Procurement Supervisor with procurement management, reporting and cost-control activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 / equivalent qualification.
Certificate or Diploma in Procurement, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management or a related field.
1–2 years' relevant procurement/purchasing experience, preferably in a mining, cement, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
Good knowledge of mechanical spare parts and industrial materials.
Valid Code B driver's licence.
Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Good communication, negotiation, analytical and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
