Job Summary:



The Electrical Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating electrical construction activities on project sites in Namibia. The role manages electricians and assistants, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards and applicable Namibian requirements. The Electrical Foreman supports the achievement of project deadlines while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:



• Team Supervision: Lead and supervise electricians and electrical assistants. Allocate tasks, provide guidance and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently and effectively.
• Project Coordination: Coordinate electrical activities with other trades and project teams. Ensure work schedules, priorities and project milestones are met.
• Quality Control: Inspect work to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and quality requirements. Address defects or deficiencies promptly.
• Safety Management: Enforce company, client and site safety requirements. Conduct toolbox talks and ensure employees follow safe work practices, permits and PPE requirements.
• Training and Development: Provide on-the-job training, mentoring and technical guidance to team members. Support the development of skills and knowledge within the team.
• Resource Management: Manage labour, materials, tools and equipment. Ensure resources are used efficiently and report shortages or constraints promptly.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including progress, time sheets, inspections and site issues. Submit reports and documentation as required.
• Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical or operational issues on site. Implement appropriate solutions and escalate matters outside the limits of authority.
• Compliance: Ensure electrical work complies with applicable Namibian requirements, approved project standards, drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with supervisors, engineers, project management and other stakeholders. Provide updates on progress, constraints and changes affecting the work.

Qualifications and Experience:



• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Recognised electrical trade qualification / electrician apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training is required.
• Relevant electrical certifications and project-specific authorisations are advantageous and must be maintained where applicable.
• 5-7 years of electrical construction experience, preferably in mining, industrial or E&I projects, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of electrical installations, cable systems, earthing, lighting, distribution systems and associated equipment. Ability to interpret drawings, schematics and technical specifications and use electrical test equipment.

Leadership:

• Proven leadership skills with the ability to organise, manage and motivate a team while maintaining discipline, safety, productivity and quality.

Problem-Solving:

• Strong practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify constraints and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.

Communication:

• Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, supervisors, engineers and other stakeholders.

Organizational Skills:

• Strong planning, organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple work fronts and priorities in a project environment.

Safety Awareness:

• Strong understanding of electrical hazards, isolation requirements, working at heights, permit-to-work systems and construction safety practices.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in outdoor project environments under varying weather and site conditions.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of site supervision, including walking work areas, climbing access structures and standing for extended periods.

Work Environment:

Project/site working hours and roster arrangements will apply in accordance with operational requirements, the employment agreement and applicable Namibian labour requirements. Overtime may be required based on project demands.
