Job Purpose
To supervise and coordinate all yard activities within the Oil & Gas operational base, ensuring the safe handling, storage, inspection, and movement of equipment, materials, containers, and offshore cargo. The role ensures compliance with company HSE standards, client requirements, and industry regulations while maintaining efficient yard operations to support drilling, production, marine, and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Yard Operations
- Supervise daily yard operations, including receiving, storage, staging, and dispatch of equipment and materials.
- Coordinate the movement of offshore cargo, containers, baskets, tanks, and project equipment.
- Ensure all cargo is prepared and dispatched in accordance with client and offshore requirements.
- Monitor yard space utilization and optimize storage arrangements.
HSE Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with company HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and operational procedures.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Identify, report, and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Ensure personnel use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices.
Cargo and Equipment Control
- Verify that all equipment and cargo are correctly tagged, inspected, and documented.
- Support lifting gear and cargo inspections before mobilization.
- Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, and marine personnel to ensure readiness of cargo and equipment.
- Monitor the condition and certification status of equipment stored in the yard.
Personnel Supervision
- Lead and supervise Yard Assistants, Forklift Operators, Riggers, and General Workers.
- Allocate work assignments and monitor productivity.
- Ensure personnel competency and compliance with training requirements.
- Mentor and develop team members.
Housekeeping and Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Ensure waste segregation and environmental compliance.
- Monitor yard infrastructure and report maintenance requirements.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain daily yard activity records and cargo movement logs.
- Prepare operational reports and manpower utilization reports.
- Report equipment shortages, damages, and operational issues.
- Support audits, inspections, and client verification activities.
Coordination
- Liaise with Operations, Marine, Warehousing, Maintenance, and HSE departments.
- Support vessel mobilizations and demobilizations.
- Coordinate resources to meet operational schedules and project deadlines.
Qualifications
- High School Certificate or equivalent.
- Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field is advantageous.
- HSE and lifting operations training preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in Oil & Gas, Offshore Logistics, Marine Base Operations, or Industrial Yard Operations.
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with offshore cargo handling and logistics operations preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of offshore logistics and cargo handling requirements.
- Understanding of lifting operations and cargo securing practices.
- Familiarity with HSE management systems.
- Good planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and logistics management systems.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Zero Lost Time Incidents (LTIs) within the yard.
- Compliance with HSE and client requirements.
- Timely and accurate cargo dispatch and receipt.
- Efficient utilization of manpower and yard resources.
- Successful completion of audits and inspections.
- High standards of housekeeping and environmental compliance.
- Minimal cargo damage and operational delays.
Operational Requiement
During active operations, shall maintain a 24/7
operational manning regime by rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, for all operational roles required to support vessel operations, loadouts/backloads, quayside activities, yard operations, customs and materials handling, and time-sensitive drilling logistics.
