To safely and efficiently operate 3-ton to 5-ton forklifts for the loading, unloading and debagging movements, stacking, and storage of materials, products, containers, and equipment while ensuring compliance with company safety standards, operational procedures, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Forklift Operations:

• Operate forklift trucks ranging from 3 tons to 5 tons in a safe and efficient manner.
• Load and unload vehicles, trailers, containers, and storage areas.
• Transport materials and products between warehouse, yard, production, and dispatch areas.
• Stack and retrieve goods from racking systems and storage locations.
• Ensure loads are properly secured and balanced before movement.
• Follow designated traffic routes and site operating procedures.

Material Handling:

• Receive and dispatch materials according to work instructions.
• Verify quantities and product descriptions against delivery notes and picking slips.
• Assist with stock movements and inventory control activities.
• Ensure products are handled carefully to prevent damage.
• Separate and report damaged or non-conforming goods.

Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Conduct pre-operational forklift inspections before each shift.
• Report mechanical defects, accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately.
• Ensure safe loading capacities are not exceeded.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Report near misses.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Perform daily forklift inspections and complete checklists.
• Monitor fuel, oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid, and battery levels where applicable.
• Report maintenance requirements promptly.
• Keep forklifts clean and presentable.
• Ensure equipment is parked safely and secured after use.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Complete all operational records accurately.
• Complete Equipment inspection checklist
• Report discrepancies in inventory, damages, and shortages.
• Assist with stock counts and cycle counts when required.
• Maintain accurate forklift inspection reports.

General Duties:

• Assist warehouse personnel with loading and offloading activities.
• Support and conduct housekeeping and yard maintenance activities.
• Participate in safety meetings
• Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Essential:

• Grade 10 or equivalent secondary education.
• Valid Forklift Operator Certificate (3 Ton to 5 Ton).
• Valid Namibian Driver's Licence.
• Pass Dover test assessment
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Advantageous:

• Grade 12 (NSSCO/NSSC).
• Warehouse or logistics training.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• First Aid training.

Experience Requirements

Essential

• Minimum 2 - 3 years' experience operating forklifts between 3 and 5 tons.
• Experience loading and unloading trucks and containers.
• Experience working in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, mining, or port environments.

Preferred

• Experience in fast-paced distribution operations.
• Experience using warehouse management systems.
• Experience handling hazardous, fragile, or bulk materials.
