Job Purpose
The Electrical Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on the FPSO's electrical systems and equipment to ensure the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of production, marine, utility, and accommodation facilities. Working under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, the Electrical Technician supports maintenance activities, troubleshooting, equipment inspections, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with Company HSSEQ standards and applicable offshore regulations.

Qualifications
Essential
- National Diploma, Trade Certificate, or Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade.
- Qualified Electrician with recognised trade certification.
- Offshore survival certification (e.g., BOSIET/FOET or equivalent).
- Valid Offshore Medical Certificate.
- Low Voltage electrical authorisation (or equivalent competency).
Preferred
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- High Voltage (HV) Switching/Authorised Person certification.
- Hazardous Area (Ex) Electrical certification (e.g., IECEx CompEx or equivalent).
- SAP PM or equivalent CMMS training.
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 3–5 years experience as an Electrical Technician in the oil and gas, petrochemical, marine, power generation, or heavy industrial sector.
- Previous offshore experience on an FPSO, production platform, drilling rig, or offshore support vessel is preferred.
- Experience maintaining industrial electrical systems, motors, switchgear, and power distribution equipment.
- Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.
Preferred
- Experience with gas turbine or diesel generator electrical systems.
- Experience working in hazardous (Ex) areas.
- Experience during offshore shutdowns and commissioning activities.
Knowledge
- Electrical power generation and distribution
- LV and MV electrical systems

- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Electrical protection systems
- Hazardous area electrical equipment
- Preventive maintenance techniques

Working Conditions
- Offshore rotational assignment (typically 21/21 or 28/28).
- 12-hour shifts with call-out availability for equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
- Work in electrical rooms, machinery spaces, production areas, utility systems, confined spaces, and exposed deck areas.
- Exposure to offshore weather conditions, high noise levels, rotating machinery, and hazardous areas.
- Mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc-flash and electrical safety PPE where required.
