Designate Divisional Loss Prevention Specialist
Job Description:
The Designate Divisional Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for supporting the Divisional Loss Prevention Manager in protecting company assets, reducing stock losses, preventing fraud, and ensuring compliance with security and loss prevention policies across a designated retail division. The role focuses on investigations, audits, risk management, security operations, and loss prevention initiatives aimed at improving profitability and minimizing shrinkage.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing and managing loss prevention strategies to reduce theft, fraud, vandalism, accidents, and financial losses.
- Conduct investigations into employee misconduct, theft, fraud, policy violations, and other loss-related incidents.
- Monitor inventory processes and perform audits to identify discrepancies, stock losses, and operational risks.
- Identify security and safety risks within stores and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Support the installation, maintenance, and evaluation of security systems, including CCTV and surveillance equipment.
- Carry out regular store inspections to assess compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Monitor suspicious customer and employee activities and assist in resolving theft and compliance-related incidents.
- Compile reports on investigations, audits, loss trends, and the effectiveness of loss prevention measures.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to management on risk mitigation, security controls, and loss prevention best practices.
- Develop and deliver loss prevention training and awareness programs to employees.
- Liaise with management, law enforcement agencies, security service providers, and other stakeholders when required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, governance requirements, and legal regulations.
- Stay informed of industry trends and recommend improvements to security and loss prevention processes.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in retail loss prevention, security management, fraud investigations, risk management, auditing, or compliance.
- Proven experience conducting investigations and preparing formal reports.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of retail operations, stock control, shrinkage management, and security systems.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Grade 12 (Matric) and a Diploma/Degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Security Management, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license.
